Got questions?
You're not the only one.
From install timelines to site prep and permits - here are the answers families ask the most.
The choice between saltwater and freshwater pools largely depends on personal preference and maintenance requirements. Saltwater pools are often preferred for their lower maintenance requirements and softer, more natural feel. Nevertheless, they may require more expensive equipment. Although Fresh Water pools sometimes cost cheaper to create and maintain, they often require more regular chemical-level monitoring and treatment.
There are three main options for swimming pool water:
- Saltwater pools — These pools use a salt chlorine generator to produce chlorine from salt, making the water gentler on the skin and eyes. They also have a lower chlorine odour, which is great for families with kids who spend time in the pool.
- Mineral water pools — These contain minerals that help soften the water and provide a 'spa-like' water experience.
- Freshwater pools — The water in freshwater pools is typically treated using natural products such as ozone generators or UV systems, which help to keep the water clean and clear. This is an excellent option for those who want to avoid chlorine or salty water.
Pool water is considered healthy if it adheres to the Australian Standard for swimming pool water quality. If you are after water quality that gives you a ‘spa-like’ experience with added minerals go for a Mineral water filtration system. A Freshwater filtration system is the purest pool water you can get and contains almost no chemicals.
- A pH between 7.2 and 7.8
- 60 to 200 ppm of total alkalinity
- 100 to 500 ppm of calcium hardness
- 1-3 ppm of chlorine
Additionally, healthy pool water requires proper filtration, circulation and overall cleanliness.
Water that is clean and transparent with balanced pH is the best for any pool – you get clear, healthy water with any Summertime pool, because a Salt Water filtration system comes standard with your purchase. However, the ideal water filtration system can change depending on your family’s usage and preferences.
